Harry Potter is the DEVIL! [Uncategorized, You're going to Hell!, Numb Skull & Crossbones] — Administrator @ 6:11 pm

Excerpt from the WIKIPEDIA article on Harry Potter

Added controversy stems from some Christian groups in the United States who have denounced the series for promoting witchcraft and Satanism. "It contains some powerful and valuable lessons about love and courage and the ultimate victory of good over evil," said Paul Hetrick, spokesman for Focus on the Family, a national Christian group based in Colorado Springs. "However, the positive messages are packaged in a medium — witchcraft — that is directly denounced in Scripture." [33] Accordingly, Harry Potter has been the subject of various book burnings.[34] Continuing with the same line of reasoning, in 2002, Chick Publications went so far as to produce a comic book tract called "The Nervous Witch" about two teenage girls who get seriously involved in occult witchcraft and become demonically possessed as a direct result of reading Harry Potter books. [35]

It has also been argued that when Pope Benedict XVI was Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith he also condemned the books in a letter expressing gratitude for the receipt of a book on the subject, stating they are "a subtle seduction, which has deeply unnoticed and direct effects in undermining the soul of Christianity before it can really grow properly". [36] Monsignor Peter Fleetwood, a Vatican priest, wrote that these remarks were misinterpreted, and that the letter was likely to have been written by an assistant of the then-cardinal.[37]

A conversation between me and someone I met really perplexed me, because as we were talking about religion, I had heard about the hype on Harry Potter, and I asked her what she thought about all of the nonsense.

Her Answer? Just guess.

"Oh my! Harry Potter is the DEVIL!"

My answer? I simply looked at her and said, "Wow." Then, I kicked her in the face.

Actually, I didn’t meet someone and kick them in the face, the above never happened, but I’m just trying to prove a point.

I just have a few things to say about this issue, because it is so stupid, I honestly don’t have much to say about it, other than that most of the people who say this, are per say, Fundamentalists. We’ll get into that issue another time. Fundamentalism is dead. I’m a Transformationalist Christian.

a.) It’s a book. Get over it.
b.) Not only is it a book, it’s FICTIONAL.
c.) It hails from Great Britain, where it is deep set in roots of the Pagan Religions. It’s not bad, it’s not evil. There is just a lot of Celtic influence over there.
d.) And, last but not least, it’s F-I-C-T-I-O-N. Spell it with me, kids!

I’ve read Harry Potter. I took a break from reading for awhile, and it definitely got me back into reading books. So, if you want your kids to be illiterate, cunt-sucking slobs, then sure, go ahead and tell them it’s of the devil. I dare you. You’ll be sorry when your kid grows up to become the next Fred Phelps (see http://www.godhatesfags.com)

I am proud to say that my church isn’t Fundamentalist, and I’ve never heard anything about Harry Potter there, and some people in my church have read Harry Potter. And we’re still Christian. We’re holding it down for God’s Kingdom?

God says to use wisdom, and when you criticize something as little as a book and call it "the work of the Devil", then you are focusing on something completely stupid and small and you are not contributing any to the war with Satan. You should be waging war on more important issues.

You’re a dumbass, but I still love you.
